The best way of exploring the land of desert is by visiting the regal forts that are found sprinkled over Rajasthan – starting from craggy and stony Aravalis hilltops, in thick woods, over the rim along with the heart of the Thar desert. The renowned forts of Rajasthan are described below in brief-
Mehrangarh Fort:
It’s one of most excellent among Rajasthan forts. It has a superb and architecture, with a imposing views of the adjacent landscape. Apparently growing out of the stony crag on which it is balanced, the fort is positioned at an elevation of about 125 metres and has an expanse of 5 sq. km & seven gates.
Chittaurgarh Fort:
The Chittaurgarh Fort is positioned on a 152-m-high rocky hill.
The Chittaurgarh Fort epitomizes the ruined romanticism of Rajput gallantry.The enormous spread of the walls and the destroyed palaces tell the legend of numerous cordon and valor.
Kumbhalgarh Fort:
This fort is situated amidst a collect of thirteen mountain peaks of the Aravali range; the dreadful medieval castle of Kumbhalgarh Fort stands for a cautious sentry to the past magnificence of its kings and princes. It is located 1,914 m above the sea level and the fort was established in 15th century AD by Maharana Kumbha.
Jaisalmer Fort:
The Jaisalmer Fort was constructed by Rawal Jaisal in 1156 A.D. The towering parapet of the citadel gives the fort a shimmering golden look in the beams of the setting sun, as if the castle has risen out of the adjacent yellow sand.
Taragarh Fort:
The excellent Taragarh Fort was erected in the year 1354, with its magnificent architecture of stone, and is positioned on a sheer hill and has huge fortifications and parapet. The citadel also gives a panoramic look of the total town of Bundi.
Amber & Jaigarh Fort:
This citadel is a classic example of Rajasthan fort-palace. It construction was initiated by Man Singh I in 1592 and was ended by his progeny Jai Singh I. Its rocky hostile peripheral belies an internal heaven where there is an exquisite combination of Mughal and Hindu styles that finds its eventual elegance. In the forefront the Maota Lake is there with jaw dropping reflections of the glorious Amber Fort-Palace. Tourists can get on to the elephant’s back and reach the citadel.
